Yesterday was national blackout day for the Internet's most-visited sites like Wikipedia, Boing Boing, and Google. The Internetwide blackout was in protest against the Stop Online Piracy Act or SOPA which will have serious repercussions if the bill becomes a law. The blackout protest was just the first step in order to put a stop on SOPA – a bill that won't really solve the international issue of piracy. The imminent threat of SOPA will halt Internet commerce, content, and businesses who rely on the marketing reach of the Internet with one stroke if the bill becomes a law.
